New Delhi, 16th November 2017: JD Institute of Fashion Technology which focuses on creating the designers of tomorrow was the institutional partner of India Fashion Week London in which the student designers of JD Institute promoted Indian Fashion at the Europe’s Largest Asian Fashion event held at Olympia London.

The collection was an amalgamation which speaks of the rich culture of Mughals, Rajputs and Deccanis. The student designers took Indian Fashion internationally and presented their talent and imagination, thus, bridging the gap between the two counties through fashion.

 To carry the legacy of the founder of the institute, Mr. RC Dalal, India Fashion week London launched THE RC DALAL MEMORIAL AWARD, which will be given to the most inspiring designer at the fashion week every year.

This year it was given to Ms. Nidhi Singhal, a designer who has made a difference and inspired the British Community with her eco friendly attires.

 The fashion week in London successfully delivered a suite of events which have strong roots within the British Asian Community. It was a huge platform for student designers to establish a foothold in the luxury premium market. They were a part of the NEWGEN designers program which was aimed to support upcoming designers by giving them a dedicated spotlight.

Mr. Neelesh Dalal, Managing Trustee of the institute felicitated Mr. Manny Singh, CEO India Fashion Week London, for his extensive contribution towards promoting Indian Designers in the United Kingdom.

Ink, Reels and The Graphics Gang

Arjun Sawhney and Tavleen Akoi Gill played the perfect host for the private preview of Ink, Reels and The Graphics Gang.

While internationally graphic design is a fast emerging art form, in India the trend is yet to be explored. Curator Arjun Sawhney wanted to create a first of it kind platform, where digital art would collide with Pop Art and a new form of art would emerge. For the show Arjun asked each of the artists to create a piece of art, one for a book and one for a movie in art or poster form.

The show broght together a stellar line up of graphic design talents—Chetana Vij of I Me Am Design, Thukral & Tagra, Design Temple’s Divya Thakur, Gopika Chowfla, Gulab Saggu, Himanshu Dogra of Play Clan, Kapil Sharma, Manav Sachdev, Mickey Bardava, Namrata Lenka, Pushkar Thakur of The Grafiosi, Rabia Gupta of RDG, fashion designer Rajesh Pratap Singh and Vivek Mathur of Indika Design.

Renowned fashion designer, Rajesh Pratap Singh has created 2 of the artworks displayed at the show, titled ‘Every Breath You Take’ as a symbol of protest against the current environmental situation and the air we breathe.

The who’s who of the art and fashion industry congratulated the hosts for their work. To name a few, ​Suhel Seth, Payal Sen, ​Subodh Gupta, Savitri Singh, Amit Vadehra and Nainika Karan​, Rohit Bal, ​ Varun Bahl, Charu Sachdev,​ JJ Valaya, Raghuvendra Rathore, Ashish Soni, Gopika Chowfla, Sumir Tagra, Pushk​ar  Thakur,​Abhinav and Pallavi Khandelwal ​graced the occasion with their presence.

17 November 2017, Moscow – Aeroflot has taken three key nominations at the prestigious Business Traveller Russia & CIS Awards, retaining the titles of Best European Airline and Best Airline in Russia & CIS and also taking the prize for Best Flight Attendant’s Uniform.

The Business Traveller Russia & CIS Awards were held in Moscow for the second time, with hundreds of Russian and international companies including airlines, airports, hotels and car-rental firms competing.

 

Established by Business Traveller, the authoritative UK-based magazine, the awards rank among the most definitive in the world. Winners are determined not by an executive committee or jury but by passengers. Online voting in this year’s poll ran through 5 November and attracted participants including businessmen, senior corporate managers and representatives of business schools.

Aeroflot continues to strengthen its position as a global airline that offers a high level of service. It was the first Russian carrier to be awarded 4-Star Airline status by Skytrax, the global authority on airline service quality, and has also been recognised with Five Star Global Airline Status by APEX.

The Russian flag carrier’s cabin-crew uniform has regularly been voted one of the smartest and most fashionable in the world. It was named Best in Europe according to a Skyscanner survey and also cited as the most stylish by participants in St Petersburg Fashion Week and travel search engine Aviasales.ru. MONTEGRAPPA: A BLAST FROM THE PAST

While fountain pens are intrinsically “retro” by nature, the technology has evolved over the millennium since the first pen appeared with its own ink reservoir first. The modern fountain pen has been refined to a state where contemporary materials, new inks and other advances have eliminated any operational issues, while the form has embraced everything from ornate commemorative pens to minimalist devices devoid of any protrusions.

What has embodied the spirit of the fountain pen user of the 21st century is his or her respect for the art of writing, and the way that a fountain pen encourages the user to exercise care. Underscoring this is another level of appreciation: that of the aesthetic of the legendary pens of the 1930s. The key recreating the pens of the golden age is to apply these values to writing instruments that incorporate the niceties of modern construction, while retaining all of the virtues of the original.

“Nazionale” is a model name that was a part of the Elmo catalogue, from the late 1930s. It oozes with Art Deco attitude, its colours evoking the era with exquisite tints and shadings. Now highly collectible, the Nazionale has inspired Montegrappa to revive it with a key feature not available eight decades ago.

Nazionale returns, visually remaining entirely faithful to the original style, with this limited edition being produced in Marble Green celluloid, precisely as it was in the 1930s.
The pen’s design is enriched with black resin details on its junctions and blind cap, the material being the superior modern substitute for ebonite, made without sacrificing the correct “look.” Trim is necessarily in Sterling Silver. Its mid-section metal ring is further engraved with the brand logo, while the pocket clip ends up with a decorative teardrop element, augmenting the vintage feel.

What has changed is the nib, the most crucial functioning part of any pen, to ensure that its “write-ability” matches the expectations of the modern user. The new Nazionale, to be known as the Nazionale Flex, is so-named because it is fitted with a flexible nib that allows different types of hand-writing and calligraphic experiences to be performed with the same writing instrument by simply applying more pressure to the nib.

For enhanced flexibility, the nib is made of 14k gold, and will be made available only in the grades of Extra Fine and Fine, as it accomplishes the rest on its own, according to how it is applied.
The nib’s cut-out shoulders offer comfortable curving, for an enhanced writing experience. Also in keeping with the era during which the Nazionale was born, which predates cartridges, this fountain pen’s filling system is piston-only.

Due to severely limited remaining quantities of the material that forms the Nazionale’s cap and body, Montegrappa will issue only 100 Extra Fine and 100 Fine Nazionale fountain pens. Its collectability is therefore assured.

ETIHAD AIRWAYS REVEALS NEW ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX GRID GIRL UNIFORM BY RENOWNED DESIGNER PRABAL GURUNG

Abu Dhabi, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES – The start of the 2017 Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend has been marked with the official unveiling by Etihad Airways of the new F1 Grid Girls uniform created by celebrated New York-based Nepalese designer, Prabal Gurung.

At an intimate launch held in the prestigious Paddock Club at Yas Marina Circuit, the designer said: “We are so excited to design this uniform with Etihad. Etihad’s foray into fashion is truly an innovative break from tradition. Similarly, we wanted to challenge the conceived notion of how Grid Girls are typically dressed. Together, we are proud to create a jumpsuit with a strong shoulder and our signature architectural approach—something a bit unexpected, yet still feminine and empowering.”

The new uniform, which will be worn by Etihad Airways’ cabin crew during the three-day event, will also be seen on TV by hundreds of millions of motorsport fans worldwide.

IMG Model Chanel Iman was chosen to unveil the black jumpsuit through a video model diary and photo shoot, shot on location at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi and in front of an Etihad Airways F1-branded Airbus A380. The images exemplify strength, control and sophistication – all pillars that align with Prabal Gurung and Etihad Airways’ vision for a new uniform. Gold zipper piping and spike zipper pulls speak to Prabal’s signature ‘femininity with a bite’ approach to design.

Prabal Gurung, whose eponymous label was established in 2009, grew up in the Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, and moved to New York to complete his studies at the prestigious Parsons The New School for Design.

The collaboration with Prabal Gurung is the latest initiative by Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways to become the fashion industry’s preferred airline. The designer was chosen to work with the airline due to his strong association with entertainment, including film, television and theatre, and has become a leading voice for fashion and feminism, deeming Prabal the perfect fit for the project.

Last year, Etihad Airways struck a global agreement with WME | IMG as a long-term partner of the fashion industry connecting the airline with the fashion capitals of the world. The agreement is the first multinational, multi-year airline sponsorship supporting the fashion industry.

Arfin Rana Mir wins the devotional singing reality show Om Shanti Om

 Star Bharat’s devotional musical reality show, OM SHANTI OM, where ‘tradition meets trends’, saw an extravagant grand finale. Arfin Rana Mir, a Kolkata boy, took home the coveted title along with a cash prize of Rupees Ten Lacs. Priya Malik and Riya Bhattacharya were adjudged as first and second runners up respectively. The grand finale witnessed splendid performances by the participants and judges Sonakshi Sinha, Kanika Kapoor and Shekhar Ravjiani.

Montblanc Joins the Circus: New Hugh Jackman film Greatest Showman to feature Montblanc products

Montblanc has announced its partnership with 20th Century Fox Film and The Greatest Showman, the highly anticipated movie inspired by the ambition and imagination of P.T. Barnum, the American showman who founded the circus in the 19th century with his legendary “Greatest Show On Earth”.  The movie stars Montblanc brand ambassador Hugh Jackman as Barnum, and will feature Montblanc pieces including a heritage Minerva pocket watch from the Maison’s Minerva Museum in Villeret, Switzerland, and a specially commissioned Meisterstück writing instrument with a ringmaster engraved on its nib.

Directed by Michael Gracey and featuring songs by academy Award winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land), The Greatest Showman is a bold and original musical that celebrates the birth of show business through the story of Barnum, an unconventional visionary who rose from nothing to create a worldwide sensation. The Greatest Showman is set for release in December 2017, and the Happy Holiday circus Fine Stationary will be available from October 2017.
