Rajeswari Vaidyanathan and Shannon Benjamin won Gold medal in Asia Open Latin Championship

The Chinese Taipei World Dancesport Federation (WDSF is one of the largest and prestigious competitive dancing body in the World) held their Asia Open Latin Championship starting from 8 am. India was a proud participant with Rajeswari Vaidyanathan, founder of India’s best Latin dance school, VR DanceSport and her partner Shannon Benjamin, representing the country and won Gold medal in the championship.

In total there were over 20 countries warring it out on the floor. Latin segment of DanceSport that the duo specialize in have 5 dances in ascending order of difficulty Jive, Paso Doble, Cha, Rumba and Samba. It is part of the World Games and the Indoor Asian Games and is internationally the most glamorous and sought after sport and actively part of every university curriculum abroad. Latin was introduced in India about a decade back in a more structured way, but unfortunately we were at a very basic social dancing level. Rajeswari Vaidyanathan with her keenness to the competitive side of the sport was instrumental in bringing about the sea of change in introducing the right international competitive nuances of the sport.

Earlier this year the duo again won Silver and Bronze medals in the Thailand Open Dancesport Competition, one of the most prestigious competitions in Asia, with competitors across the World.

The duo has been preparing for the competition for the last several months with their coach Watcharakorn Suasuebpun who has been an Asia Pacific Champion and is currently a coach with Thailand Dancesport Federation training their couples. Being an extremely scientific and technically driven dance form in musicality, partnerwork and internal body movement it requires high level of dedication and hard work.

It was proud moment for India and them to be part of a major competition and winning gold among couples from various Asian countries. They shared the floor with couples from the top Asian countries in Danceport Thailand, China and Japan. The presence of their coach along with them was an added bonus to the motivation while on the floor. This sport like any other sport requires constant fitness monitoring and the couple in India is supported by Dr Aijaz Ashai, who has been a renowned sports physiotherapist with IPL, Pro Kubbdie, Indian Rugby Federation etc.

What makes Rajeswari special, is her relentless work not just for herself and her partner but towards growing awareness of this sport in India. As any other mission she are faced  huge challenges which she has successfully overcome. Even more difficult is she mission that she juggles between being a competitive athlete, requiring hours of practice, runs her own school under VR Dancesport banner and is instrumental in starting the National affiliation to the World Dance Council that organises State and National level Championships every year supported by her partner, Shannon.

The splendid event held at Andaz Delhi, a luxury lifestyle hotel by Hyatt, saw some of the country’s biggest designers such as Pia Pauro, Siddartha Tytler including, Falguni and Shane Peacock, showcase their couture and prêt collections, which was greatly appreciated by the audiences.

Bollywood diva, Diana Penty mesmerized the audience as she walked the ramp as the showstopper dressed in a golden outfit for Falguni and Shane Peacock. The collection presented by the outstanding duo showcased their signature use of feathers, sequences and prints. While Pia Pauro’s collection, Wonderflip, presented by Sunar Jewels, plays with lots of colours, nomadic embroideries, layering and cool cotton fabrics to make those long hours of dancing comfortable; designer Siddartha Tytler’s collection crafted in black, earthy tones with highlights in gold was all about Indian designs with a contemporary twist.

The day 2 of Kohler Delhi Times Lifestyle Week also witnessed celebrated model Laxmi Rana, Sonalika Sahay, Candice Pinto, Deepti Gujral, Donna Masih and others walking the ramp showcasing the work of the designers. While model Deepti Sati (Miss India 2014 finalist and actress) opened the show for Falguni and Shane Peacock, Anukriti Gusain (fbb Femina Miss Grand India 2017) closed the show for designer Pia Pauro amidst a thunderous applause from the audience.

Isha Koppikar wishes her best to all Mumbai Juniorthon runners

Isha Koppikar, a Black Belt in Taekwondo and an expert in Hapkido, a Korean martial art, now spreads her affection for children fitness and supports the Mumbai Juniorthon.

Mumbai Juniorthon is an event for kids and junior athletes in Mumbai, Isha said, “Best wishes to all the Juniorthon runners. I hope they have a good run and have fun.”


She also advised kids to perform well and always spread happiness around.

Isha who has been practicing martial arts for 15 years, in front of media talked about the reason she fell in love with the art of fitness. “I started it because I wanted to be fit and I fell in love with the art; I realized it balances me as a person. It is like meditation. It changes your logical and creative thinking; you end up being calm and balanced, shed negativity and this helps you in day-to-day life.”

Jacqueline Fernandez who also supports the event, believes the event will create awareness and encourage kids to participate in physical activities.

Previous years Bollywood celebrities like Vivek Oberoi, Sonu Sood, Sharman Joshi among others extended their support to the initiative including kids celebrities like Darsheel Safary and Avneet Kaur.

The collection represented different kinds of pearls like pink,white and black. Each collection represented the symbolizations and meaning of all the pearls.

The two day fashion carnival saw many another fashion designers like Salil Bhatia,Swati Mishra,etc.

After getting prodigious response from the fashion Industry,Payal Sood said, It was a great experience for me while performing in front of such a huge crowd. I have already started getting calls from the industry for future projects. I am really looking forward to contribute to the fashion industry with unique thoughts and style.

Sydney’s first new-build internationally branded luxury hotel since the Olympics

November 9, 2017: The much-anticipated Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour has opened its doors, making it the first new-build, international luxury hotel to open in Sydney’s CBD this millennium. Centrally located opposite the International Convention Centre, the $500M Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour will play a major role in the ongoing revitalisation of the vibrant Darling Harbour precinct. It also heralds the renaissance of new hotel development in Sydney, with over 40 hotels scheduled to open in the next five years to support the city’s tourism growth.

AN IMPOSING EXTERIOR AND SMART INTERIORS

The hotel was designed by renowned multi award-winning Sydney architect Richard Francis-Jones from Francis-Jones Morehen Thorp architects. Dreamtime Australia Design and the A+ Design Group all collaborated to create this visually inspiring property which was built by Lend Lease.

On arrival, guests will be greeted by the hotel’s imposing 35-storey glass exterior featuring triangular accents representing sails and a striking red ochre and blue exterior colour palette which pays tribute to the indigenous clans of the Eora nation who lived around Tumbalong – the name given to Darling Harbour.

A stylish porte-cochere leads guests inside the building. The hotel’s public spaces and guestrooms continue to pay tribute to the maritime location and the industries that formerly occupied the site including extensive use of timber representing Sydney’s strong wharf heritage through to the rope and sandstone motifs in the carpets.

While recognising the links to the location’s history, the hotel’s cutting-edge design places it squarely at the centre of Darling Harbour’s future. 3rd edition of North East India Fashion Week – The Khadi Movement

New Delhi: The third edition of North East India Fashion Week – The Khadi Movement flagged off at Itanagar’s Nyokum Lapang Field on 10th November 2017. The three-day fashion extravaganza, scheduled to conclude on 12th November, was organized in association with Arunachal Government and Arunachal Tourism. This was the third edition of the event and the show not only attracted the local designers and talent but also international designers like Joseph Aloysius Montelibano from Philippines flied down to Arunanchal to showcase his collection.

NEIFW, the brainchild of Yana Nagoba, was conceptualized to inspire and encourage the upcoming handicraft the region’s artisans and designers who work exclusively to promote northeastern fabrics and culture.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of North East India Fashion Week, Fashion Designer and Founder of Yana in Style, Yana said, “Handlooms and pure weaves are in trend globally, people do give the due respect to organic colors ,natural fabrics and the efforts and talent that goes into creating these designs. Northeast has never had dearth of handlooms, and after years of weaving magic in their looms, the weavers, and their artifacts are gradually becoming crucial elements in fashion.”

“Through North East India Fashion Week, we aim to bring recognition to the ‘magicians’ behind the loom. We, along with our partner NGOs, aim to train and market the weavers and designers from the region, and through sustained skill development, capacity building, cluster development initiatives help build a brand of their own”, she adds.

For three days NEIFW presented a wholesome combination of designers, as well as promising weavers from across the northeastern region. The show left the audience enthralled as the models sashayed the ramp adorning brilliantly coloured and uniquely designed collections made out of indigenous fabrics.

Come of the line–up of the weavers who presented their collections were ,  Hill Miri Nyishi weaver Ratan Yak from Arunachal Pradesh; Karbi weaver Roselyn Tokbipi from Assam; Manipuri weaver Koijam Mantri Meitei from Manipur; Mizo weaver David Zorinpuia from Mizoram; Monpa weaver Rinchin Drema from Arunachal Pradesh; Mishmi weaver, Banilu Ngadong from Arunachal Pradesh; Dimasa, Angami weaver Thekrunei-U Shuya from Nagaland; Adi weaver Potal Perme Tayeng from Arunachal Pradesh and Fulu Rani Debbarma from Tripura.

 “I am very happy to be a part of the North East India Fashion Week as the designs and fabrics being displayed at the event were traditional.I learnt a lot by interacting with the local weavers and designers. It was a knowledge and talent exchange program for us. I am happy that Yana has been able to provide these indigenous weavers and designers a platform to showcase their talent and tradition,” said fashion designer Joseph Aloysius Montelibano.

Apart from the fashion show, there were spectacular  performances of  Guru Rewben Mashangva and Saka Mashangva; Apatani Folk Dance by Parii Bagoteam from Hong Village; singer Dapi Tashi and Monpa Folk Dance by Mon Dirang Lhaksom team, showcased the myriad colours of the region and made it an evening to be remembered from a long time.

Junior’s Fashion Week debuts in the capital city with a bang!

After the super success of the preceding seasons, Junior’s Fashion Week is taking forward Autumn Winter season and for their third stop of the Autumn Winter season, Junior’s Fashion Week came to New Delhi, unveiling trendy AW collection by the associating brands on November 11th and 12th at The Grand, New Delhi. The event witnessed creativity of the national and international brands collaborated with JFW.

Junior’s Fashion Week highlights visually soothing, timeless and enlightens charm. Each collection is absolutely unique with regard to the design. Collections are set to debut to an audience of buyers, industry visitors, bloggers, and media. Junior’s Fashion Week assists to associate brands to engage consumer communication and strategies to drive demands. JFW allots a display window and networking opportunities to established and emerging brands with new launches and new labels.

From sketch to runway, Junior’s Fashion Week drew attention on a two day event. Prominence to workshop and grooming session on day one was given for children aged between 4 to 14 years where they were taught the technicalities of the fashion world which further helped the junior models on the runway. Renowned brands such as US Polo Association Kids; Marks and Spencer, London; and The Children’s Place showcased their exclusive and impressive collections on the runway of JFW.

The pre-event workshop was moderated by experts and is a preamble to the grand showcase that proceeds. It is especially organized to groom the junior models to make them runway fit and instill in the confidence and aptitude to be a junior supermodel. The pre-event workshops, grooming and styling of the kids, is taken care by the Jessica Gomes Surana, the supermodel, renowned educationalist, choreographer and styling expert.

JFW focuses on providing young girls and boys a platform to look ahead a fashion adept environment and experience the exhilaration of walking on the runway as a junior model. JFW is an omnibus to the future of fashion world for the young beautiful people of the world.

From dresses, cozy active wear and embellished tops to modern jeans, printed leggings to playful graphic tees, and comfy sleepwear, The Children’s Place showcased their Autumn Winter 2017 collection that girls and boys loved.

On the other hand, Marks and Spencer showcased collection, including jumpers and bomber jackets in luscious greens, snug blues and bright yellow hues which were donned by junior models on the runway.
